Metal for Nerds

I’ve found some great stuff on Youtube, purely by “accident.” I’ll just let them speak for themselves…

Do You Like Industrial Music?

Well, do ya? If so, have you heard of 16 Volt?

Don’t sorry if you haven’t - I’ve only heard two of their songs myself, and both of them were covers. They were very well done, and I’ve been wanting to check out more of their stuff.

It would appear that I’m in luck. As I was looking for a video for one of my other blogs (no dice), I happened upon a page announcing that the ENTIRE 16 volt back catalog is now available for free.

Click here for all the goodies.

You’re welcome.

Sounds Delicious
This recipe appeared on my Facebook today (I’m a fan of Jim Beam, that’s why):

CRANBERRY COBBLER
Ingredients
2 parts Jim BeamĀ® Bourbon
1 part fresh lemon juice
1 part simple syrup (Equal parts sugar and water)
1 heaping tablespoon of whole cranberry sauce from the can (NOT the jellied type)
1 part cranberry juice
Top with soda water

Combine all ingredients except for the soda water in a mixing tin and stir. Add ice and shake well. Strain into fresh ice in the serving glass and top with soda water. Garnish with a whole cranberries when in season and lemon twist.

A "Recitation" From Memory
Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe.
All mimsy were the borogroves
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The Frumious Bandersnatch!

He took his vorpal sword in hand.
Long time the manxome foe he sought.
So rested he by a tumtum tree
And stood a while in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes aflame
Came whiffling through the tulgy wood
And burbled as it came.

One! Two! One! Two! Through and through!
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head,
He went gallumphing back.

And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy.

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe.
All mimsy were the borogroves
And the mome raths outgrabe.

………………………………………………………

I had to memorize this poem in my sixth grade English class. I really liked it, and I’ve apparently never forgotten it. This post was done entirely from memory; any mistakes are due entirely to the 20+ years since it was first assigned.
